Viking orders two more ocean ships from Fincantieri’s Ancona yard

Two options become contracts
Fincantieri and Viking announced contracts for two ocean cruise ships on 20 August 2026, following the exercise of options announced in April 2025. The builder assigns both vessels to Ancona and schedules delivery for 2032. The agreement remains subject to financing and the other customary terms described in the release.
The planned ships
Fincantieri gives an approximate gross tonnage of 54,300 for each vessel, with 499 cabins accommodating 998 passengers. Gross tonnage describes enclosed volume, not vessel weight. The announcement concerns ocean cruise ships and distinguishes them from the separate expedition-vessel contracts announced earlier in the year.
A longer view of the shipyard
For Ancona, the order extends a continuing relationship with Viking into the next decade. These are planned newbuilds, not additions to the operating fleet today. Their delivery dates belong on the construction horizon; they should not be treated as completed ships in a current fleet ranking.
